Product families
Choose the Cylinder by Machine Function, not by Paint Color.
Construction hydraulic cylinders may look similar on a pallet, but the selection logic changes with mounting geometry, shock load, unsupported rod length, contamination and holding requirements. Start with the equipment family below, then confirm the exact interfaces on the drawing.
Aerial Work Platform Lifting Cylinder
Lift, level and boom-actuation cylinders for scissor lifts, articulated booms and telescopic access platforms.
Crane Hydraulic Cylinder
Boom, luffing, telescoping, outrigger and stabilizing cylinder projects for mobile and special-purpose cranes.
Crawler Crane Hydraulic Cylinders
Heavy-duty cylinders for boom luffing, counterweight handling, frame support and auxiliary crawler-crane functions.
Engineering selection
A Cylinder is a Load Path with Oil Inside it.
A useful RFQ should describe the force, travel, interfaces and environment. Bore alone is not enough; the rod can still buckle, the clevis can still bind, and the seals can still hate your hydraulic fluid.
- Force: maximum push and pull load, including dynamic and shock cases.
- Motion: stroke, speed, cycle frequency and required end cushioning.
- Pressure: normal working pressure, relief setting and known pressure spikes.
- Geometry: closed/extended pin centres, mounting widths, pin diameters and articulation angles.
- Hydraulic interface: port thread, port position, flow requirement, counterbalance or holding-valve needs.
- Environment: dust, mud, corrosion, temperature, wash-down, fluid type and maintenance access.
F = P × A
Hydraulic force starts with pressure and effective piston area. Real cylinder sizing also needs friction allowance, safety factor, pressure losses, rod buckling, mount strength and side-load control.
For retract force, use the annular area after subtracting rod area from piston area.
Pressure note: pressure rating is configuration-specific. Ever Power’s general hydraulic-cylinder range includes standard designs around 250 bar and custom high-pressure configurations up to 500 bar; the ordered cylinder rating is confirmed on the approved drawing/specification.
Field reliability
Four Things That Usually Damage a Construction Cylinder before “Pressure” Does.
Pressure matters, but many field failures begin with geometry or contamination. These checks are especially important on mobile equipment that works outdoors and changes load direction frequently.
Side load & misalignment
Pin axes, clevis width and linkage geometry should allow the cylinder to articulate without forcing the rod sideways through the gland.
Dust, mud & rod damage
A damaged rod surface and ineffective wiper can carry abrasive contamination straight into the rod seal and guide system.
Pressure spikes & load holding
Relief setting is not the whole story. Shock events, over-center loads and trapped pressure can create higher transient stress.
High cycle & poor cushioning
Repeated hard stops increase mechanical shock at mounts, piston and gland. Cushioning must suit speed, moving mass and circuit flow.
OEM & replacement projects
Two Purchasing Routes. Different Information.
For a new machine design, function comes first. For a replacement, interfaces come first. Mixing the two workflows is how buyers end up with a cylinder that has the right stroke and the wrong pin width.
New OEM cylinder development
Best when you control the machine design and can provide the duty data.
- 1. Define maximum push/pull load and system pressure.
- 2. Provide motion envelope, stroke, speed and duty cycle.
- 3. Define mounting geometry, articulation and allowable package size.
- 4. Confirm fluid, temperature, contamination and corrosion exposure.
- 5. Agree drawing, inspection points and documentation before production.
Replacement / aftermarket matching
Best when the machine exists and the goal is fit, function and service continuity.
- 1. Equipment make/model and cylinder function.
- 2. OEM part number or nameplate information, if available.
- 3. Photos from both sides with ports and mounts visible.
- 4. Closed/extended pin centres, pin diameters and mounting widths.
- 5. Port thread, orientation, valve/sensor interfaces and quantity.
Project workflow
From Drawing Review to an Orderable Cylinder Specification.
The goal of the engineering review is simple: remove ambiguity before metal is cut. Final dimensions, materials, pressure rating and inspection requirements should be controlled by the approved drawing and purchase specification.
Inspection plan
Specify Acceptance Criteria Before the Cylinder Reaches the Test Bench.
Inspection depth should follow the application risk and purchase specification. A buyer can request project-specific records rather than relying on a generic “tested” statement.
أبعاد
Stroke, closed length, mount geometry, pins, ports and critical fits.
Welds
Visual inspection and additional NDT where the drawing or project requires it.
Rod surface
Surface finish/coating condition and project-specific coating checks.
Pressure & leakage
Test pressure, hold time, leakage acceptance and function per agreed procedure.
Documentation
Drawing revision, inspection record, material/coating documentation as ordered.
Construction Hydraulic Cylinder Questions Buyers Usually Ask Before Iissuing a PO.
Technical questions from construction equipment procurement engineers, fleet maintenance managers, and OEM development teams.
What types of construction hydraulic cylinders do you manufacture?
We manufacture single-acting and double-acting hydraulic cylinders for aerial work platforms, truck cranes, crawler cranes, forklifts, mini excavators, garbage trucks, and hooklift vehicles. Our bore range is 40mm to 280mm with strokes from 60mm to over 3,500mm for single-stage designs. Multi-stage telescopic cylinders are also produced for applications where stroke length exceeds the available retracted envelope.
Can you manufacture hydraulic cylinders according to OEM drawings?
Yes. We produce OEM replacement cylinders based on customer-supplied 2D drawings, 3D CAD files, part numbers, or physical samples. All critical dimensions — bore, rod diameter, stroke, installed length, port size and position, and mounting geometry — are confirmed in a dimensional review before production. Drawing confirmation is issued in writing before any material is cut.
What information is required for a hydraulic cylinder quotation?
To provide an accurate quote we require: bore diameter, rod diameter, stroke length, working pressure, port thread standard (BSP / NPT / ORFS), end cap mounting style (flange, clevis, trunnion, or weld), rod end attachment type (fork eye, spherical bearing, or thread), seal compound preference (HBPO, PTFE, or HNBR), quantity required, and application description. A drawing or photograph of an existing cylinder shortens the confirmation process significantly.
What working pressure can your hydraulic cylinders handle?
Our standard construction cylinder range is rated from 16.7 MPa (167 bar) to 35 MPa (350 bar) working pressure. Crane series cylinders — including crawler crane luffing and backstop cylinders — are rated to 31.5 MPa working pressure with proof pressure of 40 MPa (400 bar). All cylinders are hydrostatic pressure-tested at 1.5× rated working pressure before shipment, per ISO 10100 test procedure.
Do you supply replacement hydraulic cylinders for construction equipment?
Yes. Replacement hydraulic cylinders for excavators, cranes, forklifts, and aerial platforms are a primary part of our production. We produce replacements from OEM drawings, sample cylinders, or part number lookup. For equipment where original OEM drawings are not accessible, we perform dimensional reverse-engineering from the physical cylinder before committing to production.
What materials are used for hydraulic cylinder piston rods?
Standard construction cylinders use CK45 (C45E) or 40Cr steel. For high-load crane applications — particularly crawler crane luffing and backstop cylinders — we use 42CrMo4 alloy steel (DIN 1.7225 / AISI 4140) with Charpy notch impact toughness certification at −20°C. All rods receive hard chrome plating to 0.02–0.03mm deposit thickness, with surface hardness of HRC 60–65 and salt spray resistance of 480 hours minimum.
Can you produce telescopic hydraulic cylinders?
Yes. We produce two-stage and three-stage telescopic hydraulic cylinders for hooklift trucks, garbage compactor vehicles, and agricultural machinery applications where long travel is required within a short retracted length. Our standard telescopic design for hooklift arm extension (Ø100 bore, 1,100mm stroke, 1,400mm retracted length) achieves a 79% stroke-to-collapsed-length ratio. Bore, stage count, and sequence are designed to customer load requirements.
How do you test hydraulic cylinders before shipment?
Each cylinder undergoes hydrostatic pressure testing at 1.5× rated working pressure per ISO 10100. The cylinder is then held at rated working pressure for a minimum of 3 minutes with zero permissible external leakage. Stroke travel is measured and verified against drawing. Dimensional inspection covers bore, rod OD, overall length, stroke, and mounting hole positions. For crane cylinders, a test certificate including test pressure, hold duration, and pass/fail result is issued with each unit. Weld joints on crane and hooklift cylinders receive MPI inspection per EN ISO 17638.
What is your production lead time for custom hydraulic cylinders?
Lead time depends on order complexity, bore size, and current production loading. Prototype and small-batch orders (1–10 units) of standard bore designs (Ø40–Ø100) typically require 15–25 working days after drawing confirmation. Medium-bore designs (Ø100–Ø180) require 20–30 working days. Large-bore crane cylinders (Ø180–Ø280) with 42CrMo4 rods and MPI inspection require 35–50 working days. Production schedule is confirmed in the order acknowledgment after drawing review.
Can you supply hydraulic cylinders in small quantities?
Yes. We accept orders from single prototype units upward. Minimum order quantities for standard construction cylinder designs are 1–5 units for samples and engineering validation, with no minimum on repeat orders for approved designs. For OEM supply programs requiring consistent volume, we offer scheduled production releases and stocking programs for fast-moving bore and stroke combinations.
