EP-RC61T T-Box Rotary Cutter Gearbox: Split-Deck and Dual-Blade Applications

EP-RC61T T-Box Gearbox: Powering Split-Deck Rotary Cutter Configurations

Standard rotary cutter gearboxes drive a single blade spindle — the common configuration for most single-blade bush hog and pasture mower decks. However, as commercial mowing operations scale up, split-deck designs with two or more independently supported cutting sections have become common. These configurations require a gearbox that can distribute PTO input power across multiple output drives simultaneously. That is the role of the T-box gearbox design.

The EP-RC61T from HangZhou Ever Power Transmission Co. Ltd. is a T-configuration rotary cutter gearbox built around the same forged bevel gear and tapered roller bearing architecture as our standard RC-61 series, but with an additional output point that allows connection to a second gearbox or blade section without requiring a separate PTO driveline from the tractor.

What Is a T-Box Gearbox Configuration?

A T-box gearbox gets its name from the "T" shape of its power flow path: one input shaft and two output shafts (or one output shaft and one pass-through shaft) oriented perpendicularly. In the context of rotary cutter applications, the T-box receives PTO input from the tractor driveline and simultaneously:

  • Drives the primary blade spindle (the main cutter section directly below)
  • Passes power through to a driveline connection that feeds a secondary gearbox on an adjacent deck section

This arrangement allows a wide-cut commercial mower to operate multiple blade sections from a single PTO source without the weight, complexity, and alignment challenges of running separate drivelines to each section independently.

Applications of the EP-RC61T

  • Wide-Cut Two-Section Commercial Mowers: Pull-type or offset mowers with 4–6 meter cutting widths where two blade sections share a single PTO input.
  • Articulating Wing Mowers: Center-section T-box drives both the center deck spindle and a wing-fold deck section through a secondary driveline.
  • Boom Mower Applications: Municipal boom mowers that require a power distribution point between the main arm and the cutting head assembly.
  • OEM Custom Implement Builds: Implement manufacturers who design multi-section cutting decks specify T-box gearboxes as the central power distribution node for the implement.

Engineering Specifications

The EP-RC61T shares the core RC-61 dimensional footprint (same deck mounting pattern, hub pilot, and input shaft interface) but adds a through-shaft or second output port. Internal gear quality, bearing specification, and housing material are identical to the EP-RC61 standard unit. Available gear ratios and torque ratings match the standard RC-61 series. Contact our technical team for complete dimensional drawings and ratio availability for your specific T-box configuration requirement.
